595 Days to Venice

This past Sunday, MackeyBlue hosted a Meet the Artist afternoon, featuring Lynn Hofher and her "595 Days to Venice" photography series.  Quite a number of folks turned out to peruse Lynn's photography and ask her more about her work.  We were also fortunate that Jennifer Marsh was there to document the event.  See a few photos from Jen below and take a peek at Cattywompus to see more.  If you're in the area, stop by and experience Lynn's work first hand.  Her photography will be on display through June 13th.

Artist Statement:
"Everything I see I calculate as a photograph.  Each shot takes on a life of its own, having generated shapes and colors inside my head.  For me, the ability of an image to express a moment that will never be recreated is simply spellbinding.  Having mostly lived at the water's edge, a journey to the canals of Venice was a natural.  Gloomy skies dominated through the late November mist, but the infinite textures and reflections captured the painter within.  Please join me at MackeyBlue for my interpretation, "595 Days to Venice".

Vintage Suitcases

Old suitcases, valises, satchels, luggage...if only they could talk, what stories they could tell.  At MackeyBlue we're always on the hunt for vintage suitcases in various shapes, sizes and styles.  Our customers like them for so many reasons.  Some use them as decor on top of armoires or dressers.  Others stack them in threes or fours next to sofas or beds as unique side tables.  Large ones can be outfitted with wheels or other feet to create functional coffee tables.  Some are used to stow out of season clothing or children's toys.  Still others are used specifically as intended: to carry ones belongings on their next adventure around the world.  How fun to travel that way!  See more about well-traveled luggage and MackeyBlue on theinsidesource.com

Where Do MackeyBlue Items Go?

Many of the regular customers that come into MackeyBlue buy items for specific uses and functions in their home. They often tell me their ideas.  For example, this rooster lamp is perfect for my cabin upstate or these metal bond boxes are the best containers to house all my photos or this retro mod stool is exactly what I need as a table next to my bed. Karla is one of those customers. She's been shopping at MackeyBlue for over two years now and has acquired a large green cabinet, a white blanket chest, various mirrors as well as many smaller items for her home. Take a peek at the green cabinet in her kitchen and peruse the rest of her House Tour on Apartment Therapy: http://gallery.apartmenttherapy.com/photo/karlas-spare-rooms/item/119123.
